This morning, the Central Lechera Asturiana SAT General Meeting has elected Alberto Álvarez Rodríguez (the livestock farmer owning Ganadería La Soledad S.C. located in Santullano de Tineo) as the new chairman of Central Lechera Asturiana SAT for the coming six years.

Out of the 92 delegate partners at the General Assembly, 90 voted for his candidature, the only one standing to take over from the current Chairman of Central Lechera Asturiana SAT, Bertino Velasco, after nearly thirteen years in the post.

Alberto Álvarez, the new Chairman of Central Lechera Asturiana SAT, is a Forestry Engineer and, up until today, he was a member of the Governing Board of Central Lechera Asturiana SAT and a CAPSA Board Member, posts that he combined with running his farm. Born in 1976, he is married and has a daughter.

In the words of Alberto Ávarez: “It is with great enthusiasm that I take on the responsibility of a company that is vital for the partners, livestock, the rural environment and for the Asturian economy overall. I am committed to focusing all my dedication, effort and work to grow this great project and, thus, continue to guarantee the future and sustainability of our livestock farmers. I want all our partners to be proud both of their activity and of the society to which they belong, and that working together on the basis of unity and trust, we can consolidate the Central Lechera Asturiana SAT”.

In addition to the Chairman, 5 members of the Governing Board were re-elected, 4 of whom represent the active partners and one the surpluses, during the General Meeting and in accordance with the Central Lechera Asturiana SAT Articles of Association.

Mr. Guillermo Castaño Rodríguez (68 votes), Ganadería Quevedo S.C (61 votes), Ganadería Diplomada Badiola (58 votes) and Mr. Javier Marcos Marcos (56 votes) elected to represent the active partners. Mr. José Antonio Pérez Sánchez (69 votes) was the member elected to represent the surplus partners.

During the General meeting, two members of the Central Lechera Asturiana SAT Steering committee, Mr. Francisco González Sela and Ganadería La Pienda S.C., were also elected.
